MADE IN FLORIDA
Lucien Christian Adderley and Richard ‘Byrd’ Wilson, also known as the 89 Writers Duo, hail from South Florida and are proud alums of Florida State University, where they first joined forces due to their love for music, writing, and poetry.
As a poetry group, they traveled to college campuses and venues throughout the U.S., performing their unique brand of entertainment that incorporates poetry, music, and comedy. Since then, the duo has expanded their multifaceted skillset, taking the world of television and film by storm as writers, producers, directors, and educators. They have gone on to be credited with projects featured at acclaimed film festivals such as Tribeca, SXSW, Big Sky, and ABFF. Their initial venture into television came as Story Editors on the Peabody Award-winning OWN series DAVID MAKES MAN, a Florida-set drama created by Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney.
Most recently, they’ve continued to work as writers and producers for Tyler Perry’s SISTAS. They are set to write and co-showrun SWORDPLAY, a new MACRO TV series with artist Hebru Brantley and are also attached to write OSKEE AND GABE MAKE A MIXTAPE, an animated hip-hop musical based on Hebru Brantley's original characters with Interscope Records. Lucien and Byrd also completed their first short film titled “The Newlyweds: Blood At the Altar,” a horror romance starring LaToya Tonodeo (Power Book II: Ghost; STARZ) and Arlen Escarpeta (Found; NBC). Their goal and desire are to serve their community via education and mentorship while bringing unique and untold stories to life from the page, both ratchet and righteous.
